In-house pediatricians are on duty at all times and are able to administer all types of public expense periodical inoculation. Vaccination here is very convenient. Please start making your reservation when your child turns two months of age. Please contact us if there are any questions or concerns.

Vaccinations Available

Haemophilus Influenzae Type B, Pediatric Pneumococcus Vaccine

The child will be vaccinate four times in total after two months old. The first three vaccinations should be completed by six month of age when bacterial meningitis is most likely. Please begin the vaccination procedure after the child is 2 months of age.

Hepatitis B Vaccine

This is an optional vaccine which an infant can be vaccinated from 2 months old.
(※Hepatitis B vaccine had become a periodical inoculation since October, 2016 in Koto-ward. For more information, please contact the clinic.)
The second vaccination will take place four weeks after the first vaccination. The third vaccination will take place 20 to 24 weeks after the first vaccination. There are, in total, three vaccinations to be done.

Rotavirus Vaccine

There are two types of rotavirus vaccines; a vaccine (RotaTeq Pentavalent) which must be administered a total of three times by the time the infant turns 8 months (32 weeks) old, and a vaccine (Rotarix Monovalent) which must be administered a total of two times by the time the infant turns 6 months (24 weeks) old. Please consult a medical doctor as soon as possible to complete the child’s vaccination starting from one-and-half month after birth within the designated period. ※ The vaccine used at our clinic is pentavalent vaccine (RotaTeq). However, if a reservation is made in advance, vaccination with monovalent vaccine (Rotarix) is also possible.

DPT-IPV・DT

DPT-IPV is a vaccine which mixes inactivated polio vaccine with the conventional DPT vaccine. It became a periodical inoculation from November, 2012.

  • 1st Term

    Vaccination available from 3 months old. Three times with 3 to 8 weeks intervals. The fourth vaccination is done more than six months after the third vaccination (usually between 12 to 18 months).

  • 2nd Term

    One DT vaccination administered to a child above 11 years and under 13 years of age.

  • Content
DPT-IPV 4 types: Diphtheria (D), Pertussis (P), Tetanus (T), and Polio
DT 2 types: Diphtheria (D), Tetanus (T)

Inactive Polio Vaccine

This vaccination became an individual vaccination since September, 2012. We are currently accepting reservations for people who have not received the vaccination.
※ Please make a reservation since the number of vaccinations are limited.

BCG

BCG

This vaccination became an individual vaccination since April, 2009. BCG is a live vaccine which has the effect of suppressing tuberculosis with only one vaccination. It is vital for the infant to be vaccinated before it is exposed to tuberculosis virus. Therefore, Koto-ward has set its standard vaccination period from 5 months to 8 months after birth. The way BCG is vaccinated is called Stamp Injection and done by pressing a stamp with 9 needles against two spots on the upper arm. After the vaccination, you must wait in the clinic for about 20 minutes until the vaccinated area to dry.

Measles Rubella Combined Vaccine (MR)

MR vaccine required a total of two vaccinations. Please have the child vaccinated as soon as possible after the child is above one year old.

  • 1st Term

    Vaccination to be administered after one year of age.

  • 2nd Term

    One vaccination to be administered within the year before entering primary school.
    If not vaccinated within this year, you may have to pay for the vaccination yourself. Please be sure have the vaccination as soon as possible.

※Since there are no specific medicine to cure measles (rubeola), the condition can become severe. It is vital to receive the vaccination during the set period.

Mumps Vaccine

The vaccination is available from one years of age. For proper immunization, it is necessary to receive the second vaccination a few years after the first (it is recommended to have the second vaccination at the age of 5). It is advisable to have the child vaccinated after or at the same time as the MR (Measles, Rubella) vaccine as soon as possible at one year of age. It has also been discovered that a child will be less likely to have aseptic meningitis if vaccinated right after the child turns one year old.

Chickenpox Vaccine

This vaccine became a routine immunization (public expense vaccination) from October 1, 2014. Its subjects are children between 12 months to 36 months of age. Two vaccinations will be given with at least three months interval in between. Those who have had chickenpox do not require vaccination.

Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine

The standard vaccination schedule is to complete the two vaccinations (1 to 4 week interval) of the 1st term when the child turns three years of age, and have the additional vaccination of the 1st term done one year later at the age of four.
2nd term vaccination will be done when the child turns 9 years old.

※ Those who are born between April 2, 1995 and April 1, 2007 who have not completed the above four vaccinations can receive Japanese Encephalitis vaccination at public expense as an exceptional measure until the day before the person turns 20 years of age.
To receive this exceptional measure, please contact your local municipal organization to receive a form before coming to the clinic.

Hepatitis A Vaccine

If a child is older than one year old, the child will be vaccinated twice within a 2 to 4 week period, and the third vaccination will be done six months later.
Hepatitis A comes from polluted food. People of all ages can be infected since most people under the age of 60 are not immune. All, including children, must be vaccinated if you are planning to visit or live in a developing country.
※ Please make a reservation to receive the cervical cancer vaccine since the number of vaccinations are limited.

Cervical Cancer Vaccine

About 9,000 Japanese women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, and 2,700 dying from it. The vaccination can prevent cervical cancer up to 70%. Subject for vaccinations are females between the age of 12 to 16 (6th grade elementary school student to 1st grade high school student). Three vaccinations are usually scheduled within a six-month period.

Influenza Vaccine

Influenza vaccination is scheduled to begin from October. Reservation is possible from September.
※Vaccination for the whole family is also possible. Please notify the staff when making a reservation.
※Patients under 13 years of age will be vaccinated twice.
※Please make a reservation since the number of vaccinations are limited (Vaccination is possible without a reservation).

Pneumococcal Vaccine (adult)

A single pneumococcal vaccine can immunize a person for about 5 years. Yearly vaccination is not necessary. It is available throughout the year.
From October 1, 2014, “Pneumococcal Vaccine for Adults” became a periodical inoculation. People applicable for periodical inoculation is as shown below.

Person Subject to Periodical Inoculation According to Preventative Vaccination Law
  • 1. Until the 2018 fiscal year, those who will turn 65, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100 years of age within the fiscal year (from April 1 to March 31 of the next year)
  • 2. Those above 60 years of age and below 65 years of age who have or corresponds to Grade 1 Physical Disability due to the following reasons;
    A functional problem in heart, kidney, respiratory system.
    A problem of the immune function due to human immunodeficiency virus

※Those who have received pneumococcal vaccination for adults (polysaccharide) are not subject to this vaccination.
